Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using GarageWatts (“GarageWatts”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a service operated by Building A New Box, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use GarageWatts at garagewatts.com and any related mobile applications or APIs.

2. Description of Service

GarageWatts is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) application that helps electric vehicle (EV) owners track the cost of charging, calculate cost-per-mile, monitor efficiency, and compare EV operating costs against gasoline alternatives. Features vary by subscription tier as described on our pricing page.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.

3. Account Registration

To use GarageWatts you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep that information up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use GarageWatts. By creating an account you represent that you meet this requirement.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, pose a risk to the service or other users.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

GarageWatts offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis through our payment processor, Stripe. All fees are stated in US dollars and are non-refundable except as required by law or as explicitly stated in these Terms.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access to Pro features through that date. We do not pro-rate partial billing periods.

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice delivered to the email address on your account. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

5. Free Trial

New accounts receive a 14-day free Pro trial, no credit card required. At the end of the trial period your account automatically moves to the free tier unless you have subscribed to a paid plan. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free trial offer at any time.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use GarageWatts to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation;
• Transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service or its infrastructure;
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the service;
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the service without our prior written consent;
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service or its data;
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

7. Your Data

You retain full ownership of the data you enter into GarageWatts — your vehicle profiles, odometer readings, charging sessions, and account information. By using the service you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

You may export or delete your data at any time. Upon account deletion we will remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 days, subject to retention obligations required by law.

8. Intellectual Property

The GarageWatts name, logo, software, design, and all content we create are the property ofBuilding A New Box and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.

You may not use our name, logo, or branding without prior written permission.

9. Third-Party Services

GarageWatts integrates with third-party services including Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), and optionally Google and Apple (social sign-in). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of those third parties.

10. Disclaimers

GarageWattsis provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Cost calculations, efficiency estimates, and gas-savings comparisons are provided for informational purposes only. We do not guarantee their accuracy. Do not rely solely onGarageWatts data for financial decisions.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Building A New Box and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of GarageWatts, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $10 USD.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Building A New Boxand its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of GarageWatts, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.

13. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from your account settings or by contacting us at info@garagewatts.com.

We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without prior notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email. Your continued use of GarageWatts after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
